German A1, A2, B1 and B2 Chapter List

Ankommo teaches German in 135 chapters: 27 at A1, 34 at A2, 37 at B1 and 37 at B2. They are listed below in the order they are taught, 42 of them explain a Goethe or telc exam part by part, and every title opens a preview of the grammar, the vocabulary and the exercise types inside that chapter.

If you are arriving in Germany with a place already confirmed, A1 is the front door: it is the level at which you can register at the BΓΌrgeramt, open a bank account and read your post. It runs to about 29 hours. B1, the level the citizenship application asks for under Β§10 StAG, sits roughly 138 hours past the start. Pick the level you are at, not the level you want.

Not sure which level you are at? The free level test places you in about three minutes.

What is actually in these chapters

135 Chapters, About 217 Hours, 20 of Them Free

Every number on this page is counted off the content files rather than written into a brochure, which is why they move when the course does. 42 of the 135 chapters are full mock exams in the Goethe and telc formats, six of each exam. The part that costs us to say: only 20 chapters are free, being chapters 1 to 3 of every level, the A1 alphabet chapter and Exam 1 of every exam, and the other 115 need a paid plan. Nothing here is marked by a human either, so a mock exam tells you where you stand and not what you would score on the day.

Chapter counts, study time and the free tier are recomputed on every build, so this band cannot drift from the course it describes.
